Brushing down webs before spraying lets the treatment reach the surfaces where spiders walk and rest. You may still see a few spiders after the visit, since new ones wander in from the garden, but numbers around the house should drop. Turning off outdoor lights when they are not needed means fewer insects at night and less food for spiders. Clearing stacked pots, timber and boxes away from the walls also removes hiding spots.
